The California Association of Long Term Care Medicine (CALTCM) is California’s medical voice for post-acute and long-term care, empowering interdisciplinary teams to thrive. Advocating quality, person-centered care and patient safety, CALTCM engages the right professionals in the right conversations across the continuum of care, to advance innovations and best practices. Members benefit from widely-respected conferences; professional mentoring; gold-standard practice management tools; advanced, evidence-based education; and networking initiatives—enabling leaders to excel in the rapidly-changing field of post-acute/long-term care locally and nationally.
CALTCM is the professional organization for California physicians, medical directors, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, and other professionals working in long-term care. We are positioned at the forefront of statewide efforts to advocate quality patient healthcare, provide long-term care education, and influence policy.
1. CALTCM is the only association based in California that is solely focused on serving the needs of healthcare and administrative professionals in post-acute and long-term care.
2. CALTCM membership engages and benefits the entire interdisciplinary team and administrative leadership.
3. Membership benefits include numerous networking and leadership development opportunities; access to practice management tools and performance improvement training programs including INTERACT; discounts on CME programs and events; and insights from the electronic newsletter, The Wave.
CALTCM is the state chapter of AMDA: The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (formerly the American Medical Directors Association (AMDA)), and founded in 1975 as the California Association of Medical Directors (CAMD). In 2000, the organization changed its name to CALTCM, to recognize the importance of other disciplines in post-acute and long-term care, and to better reflect the interdisciplinary team approach needed to carry out its mission.
Mission Statement
